Your user book must be in Design Mode in order to delete text.
To delete text from your user book,

Click the Edit Section button on your user book window tool bar, or right mouse click and choose Design mode from the context-sensitive menu

Highlight the text you wish to delete
|

Click the Delete button on the Design Mode tool bar
|
|

|
When done, click the Edit Section button on your user book window tool bar, or right mouse click and choose Design mode from the context-sensitive menu to remove your user book from Design Mode
